Under general supervision of the Director, DE&I and Talent Management, Saia is seeking an experienced Manager of People Analytics to deliver sophisticated reporting and analyses, ultimately translating those insights into actionable recommendations to help optimize our strategic resource planning. This position will also the development of the People Analytics COE over the mid to long term within the HR function.
The ideal candidate has a passion with using data to drive insights, tell compelling stories, and deliver transformative results that directly impact associates. In addition, the candidate would have a deep interest in people topics. This individual will partner closely with HR business partners and the HR Leadership Team to help attract, enable, and engage our employees to deliver sustainable services to our customers.
Primary Responsibility:
The People Analytics Program Manager focuses primarily on cultivating people data from the Workday HR system and processes and building capabilities for the leadership team to make strategic decisions. More specifically, this role focuses on storytelling through analytics, creating dashboards and visualizations, creating reports and presenting findings to leaders.
Responsibilities:
  • Converts datasets into insights that support the design, delivery, and measure the impact of Saia’s HR/DEI and overall people strategy
  • Proactively identifies trends, relationships and opportunities that help Saia develop targeted intervention strategies
  • Gathers qualitative and quantitative data from a multitude of internal sources to inform insights, results and the employee experience from the DEI lens
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports people/demographic key performance metrics and related data to evaluate progress towards the goals and effectiveness of DEI programs and initiatives
  • Builds short, medium and long-term service delivery model for the People Analytics COE
  • Serves as business partner and consultant to Human Resources during annual goal setting and in the development of mechanisms to track KPIs for DEI programs and initiatives
  • Provides analytical answers to strategic questions about talent processes and stages within the employee lifecycle that influence the diversity and inclusion goals
  • Interprets data and effectively communicates relevant and meaningful findings to stakeholders and leaders including the development of presentations, briefings, and white papers that use data to show and tell the DEI story
  • Prepares executive briefing summaries for the CHRO, for quarterly business reviews and communications
  • Maintains and enhances key analytics within HR dashboards to quickly evaluate trends, spot anomalies over time, highlight key summaries and draw attention to areas of focus
  • Drives the development of change management plans to ensure successful adoption and integration of the dashboards into business and talent practices
  • Creates dashboards and presentations, utilizing Workday, Power BI and/or Excel, from scratch to best summarize and display the underlying data
  • Manages Employee Engagement Surveys (pre-during-post) for the Saia enterprise
  • Able to synthesize and identify possible correlations between employee engagement feedback and employee impact with internal labor market trends
  • Maintains a pulse on external labor market data across key job functions for Saia to inform workforce forecasts
  • Leads the sourcing of internal workforce demographic data and DEI programs and initiatives to complete external diversity and inclusion surveys (Partners with ESG internal contact)
  • Builds a broader and deeper comprehension of the topic and interrelationships with other key content areas
  • Utilizes appropriate workflows and alerts within Workday to provide valuable and timely insight to leaders to quickly interpret data trends, needs and issues
  • Uses design thinking to create, evolve, and implement self-service data products for HR and business leaders
  • Provides technical assistance and builds understanding about the effective use of data.
  • Identifies areas to increase efficiency and automation of data analysis processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education or related field
  • 5-6 years of previous related experience, 1-2 years specifically with people data
  • Experience on a Workforce Analytics or People Analytics team is preferred
  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Expert communication skills to articulate and deliver data-driven insights and manage challenging conversations
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (SPSS or R, SAS experience a plus)
  • Knowledge and understanding of business intelligence applications and/or cloud services (PowerBI a plus)
  • Workday experience a plus
  • Hybrid role (Atlanta/Johns Creek based) with limited travel
