Job Location: Mumbai

As a Level II Senior Data Analyst in the Data Division, you will support complex data and data product cases that get escalated to be reviewed from the Level I support teams. You will work closely with Client Service Support, Data Product Management and Data Operations to ensure resolution of these issues. Our analysts are required to research identified issues, ensure timely resolution, and communicate outcomes to all appropriate team members.

Timely resolution requires coordinating resources across various data teams. More importantly, you will help in identifying the trends of data cases submitted and come up with strategies to reduce the number of data issues submitted The position is based in our Mumbai office and will report to Data Level II Team Leader.


  • Track, evaluate, and determine the resolution approach for complex data issues that escalate from the Level I teams (Product Support, Client Service Consultant).
  • Demonstrate a high sense of ownership of the issues in the data ticket queue to be responsive and provide timely updates, follow-up, expedition, and resolution.
  • Prioritize issues properly by severity and impact.
  • Partner with Client Service, Product, and Sales team to ensure issue management processes are followed.
  • Improve knowledge enhancement and data quality process between internal teams (data and service)
  • Continuously evaluate procedures, create and enhance analytical tools, and implement process improvement projects
  • Act as an expert regarding investment data points and calculations, answering questions and escalations from data team.
  • Keep up to date on current and new financial regulations (Solvency II, MIFID II, etc.)
    Drive process improvement by applying LEAN Six Sigma tools and implementing process automation.
  • Utilize meta data to identify trends within large volumes of data cases. Propose solutions to mitigate those trends. Champion cross-team projects to implement approved solutions.
  • Understand roles, responsibilities, and expertise of internal stakeholders to expedite issue resolution. Stakeholders include all Morningstar employees whose expertise may be relevant to the resolution of a data query.


  • Solid understanding of the financial industry and passionate about investment data.
  • Willingness to collaborate with global teams
  • Excellent writing, communication, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong client centric mindset, self-learning ability, organizational and time-management skills, capable of handling high volumes of cases and meeting strict deadlines.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with Morningstar s internal database tools and data collection processes, including but not limited to DataManager, XOI, and TSDB.
  • Expertise in Morningstar data, methodology, quality and processes (applicable only to internal Morningstar employees).
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent capabilities with Microsoft Excel
  • A bachelor s degree is required.
