Job Description – HR Business Intelligence Analyst I-Sr

We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of HR Business Intelligence Analyst I-Sr. This position is in the Human Resources department and will develop, support, and administer employee programs and databases so that effective human capital management planning, performance management, learning & development, talent acquisition, benefits and compensation and other various employment decisions and support services can be offered to executives, business area management, and various levels of leadership and employees throughout UNS Energy companies.


Position-Related Responsibilities

  • Prepares analytics related to human capital management utilizing corporate human resource and operational information systems including, but not limited to, Business Intelligence, Applicant Tracking Systems, and the Human Resource Information Systems. Must be sufficiently knowledgeable to function efficiently in various operating systems and environments.
  • Initiates and maintains relationships with internal HR clients to ensure systems and solutions are provided to support business requirements and programs.
  • Designs and develops solutions for HR area needs by partnering with required stakeholders to bring solutions and systems through to completion.
  • Partner with business area leadership to assess the human capital management impact of business decisions, help clarify priorities and coordinate cross-organizational groups where common needs have been identified.
  • Oversees projects and related testing to human capital management software programs and databases including: PeopleSoft, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Learning Management, ePerformance, Applicant Tracking Systems (Taleo), ServiceNow HR Portal and Case Management, Contractor Management System, AwardCo, and others.
  • Coordinate communication between business areas to facilitate development of existing and future information systems to maximize their utilization.
  • Performs HRIS entry functions and ensures system capabilities function appropriately for business needs. Ensures proper documentation of entries and job data. Maintains employee files and records.
  • Evaluates and processes employee eligibility for access to assets within the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) program.
  • Monitors CIP program requirements and compliance to ensure records and eligibility factors are accurate and current.
  • Administers and performs entry functions for the Contractor Management System. Troubleshoots requests and monitors system access needs.
  • Leads coordination efforts for complex reporting development for audit and compliance purposes related to UNS Energy’s Affirmative Action Plans, OFCCP compliance, CIP Compliance, SOX compliance, etc.
  • Handles highly confidential and sensitive information. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
  • Continually increases personal understanding of utility business functions and processes related to human capital management needs.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.


Sr HR Business Intelligence Analyst:
In addition to HR Business Intelligence Analyst I:

  • Plans multiple project assignments and coordinates priorities with team leads and clients. Works as business lead on large projects, under the leadership of the Project Management Office. Leads projects with moderate complexity or sensitive issues, preparing all required documentation for delivery of project objectives, as assigned.
  • Provides conflict resolution by acting as a mediator, facilitator and/or counselor, to motivate managers and employees to ensure constant, equal and fair treatment of one another that is in line with the values and philosophy of the organization and in compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Performs complex and confidential Employee and Labor Relations functions in support of the organization including but not limited to; improving the employee experience, implementing and administering employment policies, conflict resolution, and working on special projects.
  • May oversee team members’ technical work.


Lead HR Business Intelligence Analyst: In addition to HR Business Intelligence Analyst I-Sr duties:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to other team members.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
(Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
3-5 years of utility experience in a Human Resources, Finance, or Performance Analyst position.
Proficiency with use of personal computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and software programs such as PeopleSoft, Taleo and ELM.
Demonstrated experience with application testing.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written and proficiency in conducting productive meetings.
Project management capabilities, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, with emphasis on accuracy and attention to details.
Demonstrate superior analytical and innovation skills.
5-7 years of utility experience in a Human Resources, Finance, or Performance Analyst position.
Effective time management with demonstrated ability to multi-task priorities and deliver assignments on schedule.
Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
Strong analytical and conceptual skills, the ability to create original concepts & theories for a variety of projects.

Ability to manage complex projects and designs and assist others with their project work.
8-10 years of utility experience in a Human Resources, Finance, or Performance Analyst position.
Demonstrated leadership skill and ability.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in personnel management, human resources industrial/labor relations, business administration (or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Advance degree recommended but not required.
Understand principles of systems analysis and design to effectively analyze human capital management needs.

Preferred qualifications of Level I – Senior
